Refund & Warranty
$5 Deposit Refunds
Your $5 deposit reserves your Founder's Edition spot. It's fully refundable, anytime, no questions asked.
- If you change your mind before your device ships: Email support@thefartometer.com and we'll refund your $5 within 5 business days.
- If we can't ship your device within 90 days of your deposit: We'll automatically refund your $5 in full.
- When your device is ready to ship: Your $5 will be applied as a credit toward your final purchase.
Device Refunds (after delivery)
Once you've received your Fartometer, you have 30 days to request a refund if you're not happy with it.
To qualify for a refund:
- The device must be in working condition or have a defect we can verify
- You'll need to ship it back to us at your own cost
- Refunds are processed within 5 business days of us receiving the device
- Refunds are issued to your original payment method
Defective devices:
If your Fartometer arrives broken or stops working within 30 days through no fault of your own (i.e., not from being dropped, soaked, used as a baseball, etc.), we'll cover return shipping and either replace it or refund you in full.
What's NOT Refundable
We can't refund:
- Devices damaged from drops, water, or obvious misuse
- Devices that have been modified or opened
- Devices returned more than 30 days after delivery
- Shipping fees on non-defective returns
Warranty (60 Days)
Every Fartometer comes with a 60-day warranty against manufacturing defects, starting from the day you receive your device. If your Fartometer stops working through no fault of your own, we'll repair or replace it.
The warranty covers:
- Sensor failure (the SGP30 stops detecting properly)
- OLED screen not displaying correctly
- Button not responding
- Speaker not playing sounds
- Battery not charging or holding a charge
- Bluetooth not connecting to the app
- Any defect from the manufacturing or assembly process
The warranty does NOT cover:
- Physical damage (drops, cracks, dents)
- Water or liquid damage of any kind
- Damage from opening, modifying, or repairing the device
- Damage from using non-USB-C cables or improper chargers
- Cosmetic wear (scratches, faded markings, normal aging)
- Lost or stolen devices
- Battery degradation from normal use after 60 days
- Damage from extreme temperatures or environments
- Issues related to scoring accuracy (the Fartometer is intended for entertainment, not precision measurement)
How to File a Warranty Claim
Email support@thefartometer.com within 60 days of receiving your device with:
- Your order number
- A clear description of what's wrong
- Photos or video showing the issue (this is required — it helps us diagnose remotely)
- When the problem started
We'll respond within 2 business days. Most issues can be diagnosed via email — many "broken" devices just need a charge or a firmware reset, and we can walk you through it.
If it's a covered defect:
- You ship the device back to us (we'll send instructions and prepaid label)
- We repair or replace it at our discretion
- We ship the working device back to you at no cost
- Turnaround is typically 2-3 weeks from when we receive the device
Important Warranty Terms
- One-time per device: Warranty covers one repair or replacement per device. After that, we may offer paid repair at cost.
- Our discretion: We make the final call on whether an issue is a covered defect. We may request the device be returned for inspection before approving a claim.
- Replacement units inherit remaining warranty: If we send you a replacement, it's covered for the remainder of your original 60 days (or 14 days from receipt, whichever is longer).
- Founder's Edition specifics: Founder's Edition units are covered under the same 60-day warranty. Replacement units may be standard (non-numbered) editions if Founder's Edition inventory is exhausted.
How to Request a Refund
Email support@thefartometer.com with:
- Your order number (from your confirmation email)
- The email address you ordered with
- The reason for the refund (one sentence is fine)
We'll respond within 2 business days.
Chargebacks
If you dispute a charge through your bank or card company before contacting us, we may not be able to help you as quickly. Please email us first — we're a small operation and we're way more flexible than your bank thinks.
